Camping

We are back from our Kauai vacation and before I share our adventure with you I wanted to share with you our camping adventure.  For our fifth year anniversary we went camping to Blue Rock Campground with Cam and Lauren.  It was on my 31 things to do before 32 list.

11.  See my best friend, Al, married

12.  Camping with Cam and Lauren                                                            Completed July 13-15, 2012

13.  Get my endurance up

We had a very nice weekend.  The weather was pretty good, with minimal rain (only on Sunday).
We arrived and set up on Friday – though it did take longer than normal to get Nate’s tarp up.  Once Cam and Lauren arrived we had a nice dinner and chat around the camp fire.

The next day we were off to go fly fishing.  The boys really like it and go often.  I was trying it for the first time.
First of all I had to get into the waders which was not a great time.  I have different waders than everyone else – mine are neoprene  – think waterproof spandex (a giant wetsuit).
As you can tell I am not happy.  I was wearing a pair of shorts underneath these and they shimmied up my legs and were bunchy.  Once out in the water I was ok – though still bunchy.
Here is Lauren in the water. Lauren and I were surprised at how strong the current was we had to grit our teeth to get to our spots.
Lauren and I spent most of my time practicing our casting, the boys were out for fish.
Nate actually caught one, I netted it, but in the end he threw it back.  Something about the size not being right.
The dogs were ok with it for a while, but then they were bothered they were on the bank and us in the river.  They even tried to make it in.
And yes those are my boots with Hot Pink Laces.  I bought them specially.
I actually liked fly fishing.  I liked being in the water casting away.  But I have discovered I am a flying fisher person who would rather NOT catch a fish.
Camping was a great weekend.  I learned (not really actually) to play the card games hearts, we had great food, and I liked fishing.  Around the campfire I stitched my hexies – but didn’t get as many done as I should – too much visiting.  Molly however was once again exhausted.
